What products should you be using?

A few basic skincare rules:

Your lifestyle can have a big effect on your skin. Stress, pollution, fatigue, UV rays... They can all damage and weaken your skin. But the good news is that by looking after your skin every day, you can help it stand up to everything it has to deal with!

Rule no. 1: Always use products that suit your skin type. For example, oily skin does not have the same needs as dry skin, so it doesn't need the same products either!

Rule no. 2: If you want to enjoy healthy skin, it's important to cleanse your face once or twice a day. This will remove any excess sebum, helping to prevent blemishes. It goes without saying that you should use a cleanser designed for your skin type, so it won't upset your skin's natural balance. And use warm rather than hot water, as the latter can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it drier.

Rule no. 3: To make your skin glow, don't forget to moisturise! All skin types need hydration, even oily skin! When choosing a moisturiser, make sure it works for your skin type, but take into account the season too. You may find you need a richer moisturiser in winter and a lighter one in summer.

It's not just what you put on your skin that matters; it's also what you put inside your body. A balanced, healthy diet will help your skin stay balanced and healthy too. Some of the best foods for healthy skin are fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. So always try to eat your five a day – and why not six or seven? Drink lots of water too! It's recommended that you drink six to eight glasses a day.

Good hydration makes it easier for your body to flush out toxins. If you don't like drinking plain water, why not drink herbal teas instead identify your skin type.

If your skin is soft, smooth and even, with very few blemishes, it's considered to be normal skin. But you still have to take care of it, of course!

Dry skin suffers from a lack of sebum, which can result in feelings of tightness and redness. This also explains why dry skin is often sensitive.
