Finding stylish, sustainable designer shoes had, until recently, not been so easy to do, but step no further, as I’ve chosen my top five shoe brands – all vegan, ethically made and tried-and-tested by myself during my own search for planet-friendly, luxury fashion.

Damapreziosa

Monte Carlo Sandal
£254.90, damapreziosa.com

Add some glamour to your outfits with these bejewelled beauties. Whether you’re going on a date, an evening out or just love to add some bling to your poolside look then Damapreziosa is for you.

These luxurious designer beauties are handmade in Italy by skilled craftsmen with only vegan and cruelty-free materials used. They feature padded insoles in soft vegan leather for extra comfort and a 4cm heel just to add a little height.

I absolutely love the thin ankle chain with small side buckle which adds just a bit more to these stunning sandals.

Damapreziosa believes in love and respect for all living creatures – something I wholeheartedly agree with. Compassion never looked so dazzling, and I can’t wait to step out in these beauts.

Will’s Vegan Store

Western boots in Chestnut
£115, wills-vegan-shoes.com

Grab yourself these timeless, western-inspired staples that are so versatile and will walk you through all seasons.

I’ve always been a fan of cowboy boots and these did not disappoint. Created with Italian vegan leather made with plants that use bio-oil sourced from organic cereal crops.

Breathable and water-resistant, these boots are decorated with stitching and applique with a soft vegan suede lining. They feature cushioning non-crush-down insoles, which are made with recycled rubber, and they have 4.5cm / 1.8-inch heel height.

Not only are these boots ethical but they are also delivered in sustainable non-treated paper and cardboard packaging that is recyclable. Do check out Wills vegan store, it’s a one-stop-shop for all things vegan fashion and food under one roof.

Will’s motto is ‘Always and Forever Vegan’ – I love these boots and love that motto!

Giesswein

Round Toe Flats
£117, uk.giesswein.com

I recently discovered these eco-friendly ballerina flats made from plastic bottles, which are 100 per cent biodegradable, meaning you can look stylish sustainably.

Rather than buying shoes made from virgin materials, these help you to reduce your ecological footprint and walk proudly knowing you are doing something for the environment.

The very first step is, of course, to collect the plastic bottles to make these stylish flats. These bottles are fished out of the South China Sea, which surrounds Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and China.

The dirty bottles are then washed and sterilised. In Giesswein’s first year of production they were able to take out and recycle over 100,000 bottles from the ocean. How cool is that?!

Plus, these chic and practical shoes offer sturdy support for everyday wear and come in a range of 14 colours to choose from. These ballet flats are very practical, too, as well as washable and water repellent.  Update your wardrobe with a pair or two for a casual, elegant look that you can rock all year round.

Elk stiletto
£429.70, minkshoes.com

In the past, my favourite luxury shoe designer had long been Christian Louboutin but after learning of the horrors of the leather industry I could not support such cruelty, so when I discovered Mink, I was like an excited kid in a candy store.

Luxurious Custom-made heels bringing sexy back…  but this time totally ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free. My dream vegan shoes!

Mink has mirrored the top luxury brands such as Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Gucci and Dolce and Gabanna to make a vegan alternative. Each shoe is inspired by these luxury high-end brands and designed by Mink’s founder, Rebecca Mink, in honour of animal liberation.

Stunning shoes and compassion for animals was Rebecca’s vision and that has certainly been achieved, mirroring the world’s finest shoe designs but by going one giant step further for the animals.  Mink shoes are undoubtedly beautiful and after giving up my Louboutin’s I’m over the mood to have found an equally beautiful vegan version.

Each shoe is a work of art, made with love by Italian artists who believe in changing the world one shoe at a time. They are red carpet shoes that won’t cost the earth.

Beyond Skin

Emmie Black Faux Leather Stiletto Mules
£230, beyond-skin.com

I’ve praised this brand many times for their luxury ethical designs so early on in the ethical fashion revolution – finding stunning cruelty free shoes hadn’t been easy task, but Beyond most definitely paved the way.

Established in 2001, Beyond Skin vegan shoes are at the forefront of vegan ethical fashion, luxurious trans-seasonal vegan women’s shoes, boots and trainers, standing apart in a world of fast fashion.

All footwear is created with breathable faux leather and beautifully handmade in Spain.

There is only one other brand I’ve worn as many times as Beyond, and they seem to have gone from the radar, hence why it is so important we support these smaller independent ethical brands. Some may find them costly in price, but such items are made to last and do not harm animals and are most definitely less harmful to our planet and there’s no price for that.

You’ll look good and be proud for what they stand for wearing these beautiful mules.
