Vegan’s will be spoilt for choice this Christmas as the supermarket giant ASDA have announced recently that they will be selling a Vegan Cheeseboard, available in time for the festive season this year. In addition to this, they have revealed “more flavours” will be available this August, but we are unsure if this means new cheese flavours, or just more vegan-friendly options.
The cheeseboard will feature three flavours, a Mature Cheddar, Garlic & Chive Mature Cheddar Alternative and the Christmas classic, a Wensleydale & Cranberry Alternative retailing at £5.50 a board.
ASDA’s product development manager James Waters has spoken about the supermarkets decision to provide more dairy-free alternatives for their customers stating that “We take on all of the feedback and will try to keep improving our range. We have some new flavours launching in August which we’re really excited about so we should have a lovely range on our shelves to give customers the option of a free from cheese board in plenty of time for Christmas!”
Last Christmas Sainsbury’s sold a dairy free cheeseboard made by the popular vegan cheese brand Violife which featured similar flavours to ASDA’s promised cheeseboard including a ‘mature’ Cheddar-style cheese, a cranberry-filled Wensleydale-style cheese and an additional ‘blu’ blue-style cheese.
The cheese board won’t be available until November the 22nd but if you can’t wait till then, why not try their selection of own brand dairy-free cheeses and free-from products that are available in most ASDA stores all year round. The flavours feature a cheddar cheese block, a grated cheddar, a grated mozzarella, and soft cheese alternatives. As well as this, ASDA stock Violife cheeses including their relatively new product, the Mediterranean block.
