Brownie Batter Houmous Proving You Can Have Houmous For Dessert

US company, Delighted by Hummus, could take our humous obsession to the next level. Delighted by Hummus want to introduce the much loved vegan snack as a dessert food and they have raised over $600,000 in funding in a recent episode of Shark Tank, a US show similar to Dragon’s Den.

Although at first this sounds a little strange, take the garlic out of traditional houmous and you have a soft, marshmallowy base for all sorts of flavours including sweet delights.

Delighted by Hummus have four flavours at the moment and people are, quite rightfully, excited at the prospect of being able to get more of the chickpea-based delight on their plates.

Founded by MaKenzie Marzluff, the company made a million dollars in sales in the 13 months following the launch proving that there is a demand for the sweet treat.

The four flavours available are Brownie Batter, Choc-o-mint, Vanilla Bean and Snickerdoodle. All four flavours are vegan, gluten free and the ingredients list is not scarily long. For example, the Brownie Batter houmous is made from: Garbanzo Beans (chickpeas), Coconut Oil, Water, Coconut Milk, Organic Turbinado Sugar, Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, Pure Vanilla Extract, Cultured Dextrose (Dairy-free, digestive enzyme) and Sea Salt.

With 8 servings per tub and at just 80 calories per serving this delicious desert can also be good for your overall health. Delighted by Hummus suggest that you eat your houmous with fruit, pretzels, as frosting on cupcakes or with pita chips.

Sadly, Delighted by Hummus is not yet available in the UK so if you are heading over to the US anytime soon, be sure to grab us a selection too.

If you prefer your houmous made more traditionally though, here is a super recipe.
