Jamie Oliver has announced that his restaurant chain, Jamie’s Italian, has launched a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu.
The celebrity chef, who found fame with his Naked Chef television series, has been inspired by National Vegetarian Week to create a plant based menu. The Jamie’s Italian website says that “Jamie is passionate about how much good we can do for ourselves and the environment by cutting back the amount of meat we eat – so of course we wanted to support this brilliant initiative, too.”
Earlier in the month, Oliver launched a five-day vegetarian challenge to help inspire people to go meat-free. “With this challenge, I want to inspire everyone – veggies and meat-lovers alike – to embrace the wonderful world of veg, every day! Knowing how to make veg and fruit the stars of the show is such an exciting way to cook.”
While the challenge only lasts for the duration of the week, the new menu options will be a permanent addition to Jamie’s Italian. Vegan dishes on the menu include Casarecce Puttanesca, Tagliatelle Pomodoro, and Sicilian-Style Cauliflower, with other vegetarian dishes, such as a Veggie Tagliatelle Bolognese, easily made suitable for vegans by removing the cheese.
The menu is launching across all restaurants in the UK and abroad.
