Morrisons launch their own vegan version of a Cornish pasty

Named the ‘Corn-ish’ pasty in a nod to the traditional West country pastry, the new release is a first of its kind in the UK. Morrisons is the first supermarket chain to release a vegan version of the traditional and widely favoured Cornish dish.

Following a recipe that stays as true to the famous and original composition as possible, the filling comprises of Morrison’s vegan mince and a seasoned mix of potato, swede and onion, wrapped in the traditional crimped rough-puff flaky pastry. In addition to the pasties, Morrisons will also be offering their own version of a vegan sausage roll.

Morrisons pasty buyer, Steve Halford commented: “Some of our customers want to cut down on their red meat intake, so we wanted to offer a pasty that’s meat-free and as delicious as the original.”

The Corn-ish vegan pasty launched in Morrisons stores nationwide on Monday 8th July and are part of the new vegan range available at their Pie Shop counters. RRP is £1.75 or as part of a 2 for £3 offer. The vegan sausage rolls will cost £1 each or available as part of a 2 for £1.50 offer.
