The Forest Green Rovers became the first ever vegan football club. Now, nearly a year on serving vegan food and alcohol to fans, staff and players, they’ve received bragging rights.
According to The London Economic, The Sport and Leisure Catering Magazine Awards has awarded the Cotswolds’ Club the ‘Menu of the Year’ award. This confirms that making the switch to vegan menu has only improved things for the football club.
After partnering with Quorn, the Forest Green Rovers now award-winning menu features veggie burgers, Mexican Fajitas, Sweet Potato Burgers, Pizza, Chips and their match day renowned Q-Pie. The Cotswold Brewing Company is also responsible for the vegan lager and cider available.
Dale Vince, Chairman of Forest Green Rovers commented: “The best part of winning this national award is not that we’re a football club, special as that is – but that we did it with vegan food. Food that is sustainable in all senses of the word.”
