Pizza Express Adds New Vegan Options to Summer Menu

Pizza Express has added new vegan options to their summer menu, including a pizza using vegan mozzarella. Last year the restaurant chain announced plans that they were going to introduce vegan cheese on pizzas as part of their menu; however some customers have not seen this followed through when dining in the restaurants.

The new pizza, the Vegan Giardiniera, is topped with artichoke, closed cup mushrooms, red onion and black olives, with tomato, vegan mozzarella, and finished with garlic oil and fresh parsley. With the new vegan pizza also falling into the Leggera range, it is has the options to be less than 600 calories of plant based goodness.

Also included in the new summer menu is a blackcurrant and limoncello sorbet, and it is the restaurant’s first dessert that is vegan, aside from sorbets. This dessert has a gluten-free biscuit base, and has a limoncello liquer and blackcurrant mousse, and is served with fruit coulis, strawberry and mint.

More restaurants and food chains are serving up vegan options, to cater for the growing demand. Although many of the pizzas at the chain can be made vegan by removing certain elements, such as the cheese, however new options are welcomed.
