Plant-based culinary school, The Plant Hub, opens its doors

After successfully raising over £20,000 from 126 backers in its Kickstarter campaign in November, The Plant Hub is set to launch on 4th January

Based in East London, the cookery school will run unique workshops and classes for those wanting to learn how to make a variety of tasty plant-based dishes.

The Plant Hub hopes to inspire true community, food knowledge and forward-thinking education with guest chefs, seasonal classes and community inspired leading.

Dubbed ‘the new incubator for nurturing plant curiosity’, The Plant Hub’s new Plant Academy perfectly encapsulates the wants and needs of the modern consumer. Their calendar is packed full of classes, and throughout Veganuary these will be available at a huge discount.

Classes will range from ‘Good Morning Smoothie Classes’ to ‘Afternoon Tea Workshops’, and ‘Dinner and Kombucha Cocktails’, and will start from as little as £10 per person.

The Plant Hub’s two founders, Lauren Lovatt and David Bez, have been shocked by the amount raised from their Kickstarter campaign, which they have said went above and beyond their expectations.

Lauren, plant-based chef, entrepreneur and former PlantLab instructor, said: “This has been a dream of ours for so long – a place where we can create not only a space for education and experience but also a community that is nurturing, kind and ultimately life-changing.”

“Being curious is key, ”Lauren says. “Being around others who are equally as curious and eager to learn, can be so inspiring. The Plant Hub is an opportunity to become a part of an inclusive and supportive community that not only inspires health and creativity but also teaches vital life skills in a dynamic plant powered way.”

The cookery school will base itself around the ideas of seasonality, community and locality, and so each course on offer will focus only on the most important topics within the realms of the plant-based industry.

Every class will be taught by Lauren and David, alongside trained chefs, professional nutritionists and influential plant-based leaders; supporting local producers and suppliers.

For the launch, timed tie in with Veganuary, The Plant Hub will be running an assortment of exciting events, and will welcome guest chefs like Niki Webster from RebelRecipes, as well as veggie nude life-drawing classes, featuring only a real-life aubergine to protect the modesty of their models.

Each month will host a wild variety of nutritional and seasonal classes and taster days from the talented The Plant Hub’s team, and their community of professional and aspirational foodies within the industry.
