Vegan designer Stella McCartney has launched a new collection with Adidas, which is made from recycled materials. McCartney has previously worked on sustainable fashion ranges, drawing attention to the environment through her work.
Decorated in the print of endangered animals, the collection also draws on species which are fading fast, and a reminder to our responsibility to the environment and the beings within it.
The collection, called Adidas by Stella McCartney is an activewear range for the Autumn/Winter ’18 season, launching in the coming months. Online fashion platform WT VOX reported on the new range, saying: “Inspired by the power of mother nature, Adidas by Stella McCartney new AW18 collection highlights the need to protect the environment.”
Stella McCartney is renowned for her use of innovative materials, tackling the topics of plastic waste and fur within the world of fashion. Materials used in this new collection include recycled materials, such as polyester, organic cotton, plastic from the ocean and Econyl yarn fabrics.
Speaking about the new collection, Stella McCartney said: “As the brand at the pinnacle of female sports performance and style, we have a responsibility to provide women with a choice that allows them to be part of a solution through our sustainable pieces and practices.
“More than half of our apparel and a third of our footwear in FW18 are made with eco-innovative and recycled materials, such as parley’s Ocean Plastic. It’s time to be the difference we want to see. To act now and to mean more in all we do.”
The new range features Adidas Climaheat technology which is designed to give athletes insulation for training in cold weather, and the whole range hopes to empower women to exercise regardless of the weather conditions.
