Sun dazed by the light of veganism

We catch up with vegan illustrator and owner of Sundaze, Amy Morley

As soon as you come across  one of Amy Morley's striking  artworks, you are drawn  in - the vibrant images and  powerful messages take you prisoner  and refuse to let you leave without  considering their meaning. We chat to the  artist behind the designs to find out more  about her work.

Have you always been interested in art and digital illustration?

Ever since I was young, I have always loved illustration. It inspired me and encouraged me to pursue it as a career.

When did you become vegan and why?

I became vegan in 2012 after watching  Forks Over Knives. I didn't want to  contribute to the destruction of the  planet and the slaughter of innocent  animals anymore, and after a week of  going cold turkey (no pun intended), I  never looked back.

When did you start combining art with veganism?

It started in 2017 when I had the idea to create vegan tarot cards. I always wanted to create art with a purpose and provide illustrations that were both appealing to the eye as well as making a statement.

How would you describe your artistic style?

My artwork is a combination of classical renaissance, witchcraft and dark academia.

What do you aim to do with your vegan artwork?

Eventually, I will be moving into home decor and my very own tarot deck.

Talk us through your Etsy store. What do you aim to do with your products and shop?

My Etsy store contains a mixture of products ranging from art prints to apparel. I aim to inspire and educate with the messages I adopt in my designs and spread the message of the environmental impact and awareness of empathy and compassion.

How useful is art in spreading awareness of animal welfare and other world issues?

I believe the strength in the message comes from a strong visual statement. I believe that when art captures the hearts and minds, the message is then transferred to the audience more efficiently.

What other kinds of vegan activism do you do?

I support the cause by donating to various animal sanctuaries and charities, as well as using my platforms to promote
veganism, environmentally friendly living and raising awareness not only of the benefits of a healthy vegan diet but the compassion afforded to all living creatures as a result.
