Manchester, Edinburgh and Leicester have been found to be the United Kingdom’s most vegan-friendly cities according to holiday letting search engine, Holidu. Unfortunately, London was placed tenth in the European comparison list, topped by Amsterdam.
Using data from HappyCow on the number of vegan restaurants and options in each city, and cross-referencing that with the cities’ respective populations, Holidu came up with the following rankings for the UK:
With 129 vegan restaurants or restaurants with vegan options, Manchester came out on top. The fifth biggest city in the UK in terms of population by metropolitan borough, it isn’t the most densely-populated place on the list, but it does offer some fantastic vegan options; V Revolution diner is regarded one of the best vegan restaurants in the country whilst the likes of The Allotment and Earth Café are both incredibly popular too. London, Leeds and Birmingham sit surprisingly low on the list considering these three cities have the largest populations. Holidu’s study branched into Europe, too:
This is disappointing for London but gives us a good list of holiday destinations to visit. Where to first…?
