Vegan company offers £50,000 for someone to travel the world tasting vegan food

A UK-based vegan brand is seeking a ‘director of taste’ to travel around the world and discover new and unique ingredients to revolutionise their plant-based dishes. The job is offering £50,000 plus expenses to visit Asia, South America and Eastern Europe for months at a time to sample local cuisine.

The job is with Vibrant Vegan, a plant-based meal subscription service, who hopes to introduce amazing new flavours to their food. The job also involves setting up partnerships to source the ingredients they find.

Candidates for the job need at least three years’ experience in the food industry or as a chef, with a passion for plant-based food a must. This job may seem like the idyllic dream for many, but travelling around the world for four months at a time requires candidates to be comfortable with being away from home for long periods of time.

Iain Burke-Hamilton, founder of Vibrant Vegan said: “We are always on the hunt for new talent, because I’m a firm believer that it’s the people that make a successful company. However, I don’t think we’ve ever recruited for a job this exciting before. This is a very unique and rewarding job, but despite its extensive peals, we acknowledge it’s also very demanding.”

He added: “There are hundreds of ingredients and recipes across the world that haven’t been presented to the UK consumer, so we hope our new recruit will be able to inspire some new and tasty recipes for our vegan ready meal offering. I believe innovation is at the heart of food, so I want someone with an innovative and creative mind to help us build on our current recipes.”

Shortlisted candidates will go through a rigorous interview process and a taste test to ensure their palette is ‘up to scratch’. You can find the full job listing here.
