Protesters gathered in Paris to demand an end to the meat industry in France. Some protesters allowed themselves to be branded with a red hot iron on their skin, portraying the pain and suffering animals go through on a daily basis. Other protesters smeared fake blood across their bodies and played dead on the ground.
The demonstration was organised by animal rights charity 269 Life France. It took place in the Place de la Republique in Paris and aimed to show what they say is the harsh treatment of animals. The footage from the protest showed many of those taking part wearing nothing but underwear with fake blood smeared across their bodies as they were permanently burned.
