Gram Flour Omelette

This omelette is super quick, easy and cheap. It is packed with protein due to the chickpeas and yellow split peas in the gram flour.

Gram Flour Omelette


For the omelette

  • 100g (3.5oz) gram flour
  • 200ml (⅞ cup) water
  •  ¼ tsp Kala Namak (optional)
  •  1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 1 tsp oil for frying

For the filling

  • 1 tsp oil for frying
  • 100g (3.5oz) spinach
  •  6 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced


  1. Firstly, to make the omelette whisk together the gram flour, water, kala namak and nutritional yeast until a smooth batter is formed.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat and pour in the batter. Cook for 4-5 minute until the batter has set.
  3. Whilst the omelette is cooking to a frying pan add the oil over a medium-high heat, then add the spinach, cherry tomatoes and red onion and cook for 2-3 minutes to wilt down.
  4. Pile the filling into the omelette and fold to serve.
