Over 100 runners from Vegan Runners, the UKs biggest athletics club, are taking part in the Brighton 10K race next weekend (Sunday 19th November) along the historic Brighton and Hove seafront.
Vegan Runners from around the country, and from other countries, will converge in Brighton for the weekend for their Annual General Meeting as well as taking part in the 10K race in Brighton. There are now over 1,700 paid members in the UK including Fiona Oakes, who holds three marathon records, and Nick Balding, recently placed second in a 250 mile race.
Not only are the Vegan Runners taking part in the 10K, but, for the very first time, the Brighton 10K will contain a race within a race — the Vegan Runner 10K championships will be taking place within the Brighton 10K.
There will also be a range of social events for Vegan Runner members including restaurant meals, beer festivals and a vegan singles event.
Dave Arnold, The Brighton Vegan Runners coordinator, said: “When it was agreed that the AGM would take place in Brighton and Hove this year, we knew we really wanted to showcase everything our brilliant city has to offer.
“Many of our club mates around the country don’t have anywhere near the range of vegan eateries and shops that we enjoy here. We can’t wait to show them what an inclusive, friendly city Brighton is, as well as showing the city what a fit and friendly bunch we are. We might even challenge for some of the top spots on the day.”
