Olympic athletes from the US feature in a new anti-dairy advert, produced by the Switch4Good campaign. The advert is set to air in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Dallas. In the advert the Olympians speak of their dairy-free, vegan diets and their sporting careers.
The advert is directed by Louie Psihoyos, who is the director of new documentary The Game Changers. The advert was screened during the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics and has been made to counter the claims made by the dairy industry.
Athletes included in the advert are Dotsie Bausch who took the podium at the 2012 Olympics as the oldest competing athlete in her specific discipline, and believes that leading a plant based diet is behind her success. Speaking to Adweek, Bausch said: “I switched to a whole foods, plant based diet about two and a half years before the 2012 Olympic games.
“I stood on the podium at 39 years old, the oldest competitor ever in my specific discipline. My diet change was the key factor in me being able to recover quicker, decrease inflammation and have all the stamina and energy I needed to compete against my competitors 20 years my junior.”
The thirty second advert features the Olympians speaking of their reason why they chose to go dairy-free and stating that they’re “proud to be dairy-free.”
